How do I add a UTMA or custodial account for my child?

You can add a UTMA or custodial account to PortfolioPilot in two ways:

Option 1 - Connect via your brokerage (recommended):

  1. Open Net Worth - "Add an asset" - Securities.
  2. Search for the brokerage that holds the UTMA (e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab).
  3. After connecting, look for the UTMA in the sub-account list. Most major brokerages surface UTMA accounts alongside regular accounts when you connect.
  4. If the UTMA account doesn't appear, email support@portfoliopilot.com with the brokerage name - we'll investigate.

Option 2 - Add manually:

  1. Open Net Worth - "Add an asset" - Other assets - Other.
  2. Enter the account name (e.g. "UTMA - [child's name]") and current value.
  3. Update it periodically as the account grows.

Once added, the account is included in your Net Worth and Retirement Planner projections. You can also move it into a separate Asset Group if you want to track it separately from your own investable assets.
