How do I add my spouse's accounts and Social Security to our retirement plan?

You can model both your and your spouse's finances together in the Retirement planner.

Add your spouse's accounts to Net Worth. Open Net Worth and add them the same way you added yours - connect their brokerage by searching the institution search box, upload a recent statement (PDF, screenshot, Excel, or CSV), or enter holdings manually. All connected accounts aggregate automatically into your combined retirement projections.

Include your spouse in the retirement model:

  1. Open the Retirement planner - People tab.
  2. Under Spouse / partner, toggle Include separately? to Yes.
  3. Enter your spouse's current age, retirement age, life expectancy, Social Security benefit, and Social Security start age.

Each of you can configure your Social Security with its own start age - useful for modeling claim-timing trade-offs (one of you claims at 62, the other at 70, and so on). If you don't have the exact benefit amount, use the SSA quick calculator to estimate it.
