How do I change my risk level in PortfolioPilot?

You can update your risk preference at any time:

  1. Open Preferences and scroll to Investment profile.
  2. Click the edit icon next to "What is your risk preference?".
  3. Pick one of the six levels: Conservative, Moderately conservative, Moderately aggressive, Aggressive, Very aggressive, or Extreme.

Your risk preference shapes which securities PortfolioPilot recommends and how it evaluates your Portfolio Score. After you change it, recommendations refresh on the next run.

You can also set different risk preferences for different Asset Groups - useful if you want aggressive growth in a Roth IRA but a more conservative allocation in a near-retirement 401(k). Asset Groups set risk preferences only; for asset class targets, use the Additional context field on the same Preferences page. To switch between groups, use the Portfolio Selector in the left sidebar (or at the top of the page on mobile).
