How do I connect an account that keeps defaulting to the wrong login credentials?

This usually isn't about cached credentials on our connection partner's side - it's about your browser still being logged in to the brokerage's website, either directly or via a previous OAuth session. When PortfolioPilot opens the connection flow, the brokerage hands it back the account you're already logged into.

To connect with the right login:

  1. Open the brokerage's website in your browser and log out of the existing account completely. (Closing the tab isn't always enough - explicitly sign out.)
  2. Come back to PortfolioPilot. Open Net Worth - find the affected account and click the wrench (Fix account) icon - or for a brand-new connection, "Add an asset" - Securities and search for your institution.
  3. Sign in with the credentials you actually want to use.

A related gotcha with phone-number quick-connect: If you provide your phone number during a Plaid quick-connect prompt, the flow may pull in your other linked accounts from any apps where you used the same number. If you want this connection to start fresh, skip the phone-number step and sign in with your brokerage username and password directly.

If you still can't get to the right login after a fresh browser session, email support@portfoliopilot.com with the institution name. We'll investigate and fix it asap.
