What is the difference between the stress test in the AI Assistant and the Simulations feature?

Two different tools, useful in different situations:

  • Simulations. Open Simulations to run your portfolio through historical crisis scenarios (Global Financial Crisis, COVID pandemic) against standard indexes - a rigorous, data-driven backtest using actual historical market data. For custom future scenarios, use Future simulations to describe a scenario in natural language and get a quarter-by-quarter breakdown.
  • AI Assistant stress tests. Ask "How would my portfolio hold up in a recession?" or "What happens if rates rise 2%?". The AI walks you through a flexible, conversational analysis based on your current holdings and forward-looking models.

Use Simulations for rigorous historical and future-scenario backtests. Use the AI Assistant for ad-hoc what-if questions, follow-ups, and custom angles that don't fit a preset. The AI Assistant can also kick off a Simulations run directly from the conversation when you describe a custom scenario, so you don't have to choose between the two: you can start in chat and land on a full Simulations report.
