How do I add my retirement accounts (IRA, 401k, Roth IRA) to PortfolioPilot?

You can add your retirement accounts in several ways - whichever works best for your brokerage:

Option 1 - Connect your brokerage directly (recommended)

  • Click "Add an asset" (top right) → Securities → search for your brokerage (12,000+ supported)
  • Connect through our trusted partners: Plaid, SnapTrade, or Yodlee
  • Once connected, click the edit (pencil) icon on the account → set Tax Treatment to "Tax-Advantaged" (IRA/401k) or "Tax-Free" (Roth IRA)

Option 2 - Upload a statement or screenshot

  • Click "Upload anything" (top right) → "Create a new portfolio"
  • Upload your brokerage statement (PDF, CSV, spreadsheet, or screenshot)
  • Our AI will extract the holdings automatically

Option 3 - Copy/paste your holdings

  • Click "Add an asset" → Securities → "Enter or copy/paste securities"
  • Copy your holdings from your brokerage website and paste them into the input box
  • Set the Account nickname, Account type, and Tax Treatment → Save

Correctly marking your accounts as Tax-Advantaged or Tax-Free is important - it helps PortfolioPilot provide accurate tax optimization recommendations and retirement projections.
