How do I add physically backed gold, silver, or other commodities to PortfolioPilot?
For commodity ETFs, simply add them as regular securities in Net Worth — search by ticker and they're recognized automatically.
For physically backed gold, silver, or other precious metals (bars, coins, or anything not held in an ETF):
- Open Net Worth → "Add an asset" → Other assets → Physical metals.
- Enter the asset name and current market value in USD.
PortfolioPilot includes the value in your net worth and factors the exposure into your portfolio analysis. Prices for physically held metals are updated automatically using a physical-metals index — less metal-specific than a dedicated ETF, but always moving with the market. If you'd rather mark-to-market with a specific dealer or refiner price, update the value manually whenever you want.
