How do I model a one-time business sale or large equity compensation payout?

Large one-time income events (business sale, large equity payout, inheritance, lawsuit settlement) go in Retirement planner - Life events tab:

  1. Click + Add life event.
  2. Select Sell business, Inheritance, or Custom event as the event type.
  3. Enter the expected amount (use after-tax if you want to model net proceeds) and the year.
  4. Set Wealth impact to Increase.

The planner incorporates the lump sum into your projection and updates automatically. For equity compensation that vests over multiple years, add it as recurring income under the Money in & out tab - + Add payment with the relevant date range. To compare timing trade-offs ("sell in 2027 vs 2030"), save each variation as a what-if scenario and switch between them on the projection chart.
