Is it safe to connect my brokerage account to PortfolioPilot?

Yes - connecting your brokerage is safe. Here's exactly what happens when you connect:

  • Read-only access only: PortfolioPilot can see your holdings and balances, but cannot move money, place orders, or make any changes to your account.
  • We never see or store your login credentials: Account connections go through Plaid, SnapTrade, or Yodlee - trusted third-party providers that handle authentication. Your banking username and password never touch our servers.
  • Industry-standard providers: Plaid is used by Venmo, Betterment, and thousands of other apps. SnapTrade and Yodlee serve millions of users. These are the same providers your bank uses.
  • 256-bit encryption: All data in transit and at rest is protected with bank-level encryption.
  • Disconnect anytime: You can remove any connected account at any time from Track → Net Worth - no permission needed.
  • Connection is optional: If you prefer not to connect, you can add your holdings manually or via file upload. You get a full analysis either way.
