What are the known limitations of PortfolioPilot for international investors?

Here is a clear summary of current limitations for non-US investors:

  • Currencies: only USD and CAD are natively supported; other currencies require manual conversion
  • Exchanges: only US and Canadian exchange-listed securities are fully supported with price data and analysis
  • Brokerage connections: Plaid, SnapTrade, and Yodlee primarily support US and Canadian institutions; international brokerages generally cannot be connected directly
  • Tax features: Roth conversion modeling and tax-efficient distribution advice are designed for the US tax system; tax-loss harvesting works for Canadian investors as well
  • Retirement Planning: Social Security modeling is US-focused; non-US pension systems (CPP, OAS, UK State Pension, etc.) can be added as recurring income in Plan → Retirement Planning → "Money in & out" tab
  • Security data: international tickers may have limited or no price/forecast data; proxy securities are the recommended workaround

Many international investors use PortfolioPilot for the US-listed portion of their portfolio - you can create a dedicated Asset Group for your US holdings and use the full suite of recommendations, optimization, and tax tools on that portion, even if your non-US assets are tracked more simply. Expanding international support is on our roadmap.
