What happens to my brokerage accounts and financial data if Global Predictions shuts down?
Your brokerage accounts are completely unaffected - they exist independently at your brokerage and are in no way controlled or held by PortfolioPilot.
Your accounts and investments:
- PortfolioPilot only has read-only access to your accounts - we cannot hold, move, or freeze any assets
- Your brokerage accounts are held at your brokerage (Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, etc.) - not at PortfolioPilot
- Even if PortfolioPilot shut down today, your investments would be completely untouched
Your data in PortfolioPilot:
- You can export your portfolio data to CSV at any time from the Details page (Track → Details → “Export as spreadsheet”)
- As an SEC-registered Investment Adviser, PortfolioPilot is required to maintain a succession plan and data retention procedures
- Plaid and SnapTrade connections are managed by those third-party providers independently of PortfolioPilot
We understand this is a legitimate question for any startup product. We're focused on building a long-term, sustainable business - but it's reasonable to have a backup of your own data regardless.
