Why do transactions I add show up in the Transactions tab but not in my portfolio holdings?

There's an important distinction between the two:

  • Holdings (in Net Worth) reflect your current positions: what you actually own today.
  • Transactions (in the Transactions tab) are the historical record of buys, sells, and dividends used to calculate cost basis and capital gains. They don't move your current holdings.

Adding a row in the Transactions tab is for cost-basis and tax purposes only, telling PortfolioPilot what price you paid for shares you already hold - not that you have new shares.

To add or update your actual holdings:

  1. Open Net Worth and click the pencil (Edit) icon on the relevant account.
  2. Update the quantity or market value of the security directly.

If you recently made a trade in a connected account and it hasn't shown up yet, click Sync accounts on the Net Worth page to pull a fresh sync. Quantities and positions update once a day automatically. If the connection itself needs attention, use the wrench (Fix account) icon on the account row to reconnect.
