Why does the Idle Cash Alert show incorrect cash amounts?

The Idle Cash Alert flags uninvested cash in your portfolio. If the figure looks higher than your actual cash, the usual reason is that a sweep money market fund is being included. Sweep positions are technically securities, but their cash-like behavior means many brokerages report them in a way that places them in the cash bucket.

A few things you can do:

  • Pull a fresh sync. On Net Worth, click Sync accounts so the latest balances flow in.
  • Tune the alert threshold. Open Preferences - Email alerts and update the idle cash field. The threshold for when the alert fires is yours to set.
  • Report a data issue. If the figure still looks off after a fresh sync, hit Report an issue on the affected account row (fastest path into our data queue). You can also email support@portfoliopilot.com with the amount shown vs your actual cash balance - we'll investigate and fix it asap.
