Why is my Investable Cash amount so high in PortfolioPilot?

A high “Investable Cash” balance typically means one or more of your accounts has a large uninvested cash position that PortfolioPilot is detecting as idle capital.

How to find where it's coming from:

  1. Go to Track → Details
  2. Turn OFF the 'Aggregated view' toggle
  3. Review each account to identify where the cash balance is coming from

Common causes:

  • Uninvested cash in a brokerage account (after selling or receiving dividends)
  • A money market fund (e.g. SPAXX, VMFXX) being interpreted as cash
  • A recently connected or re-synced account
  • An intentional cash allocation

What to do:

  • If it’s intentional (e.g. emergency fund or savings), consider placing it in a separate Asset Group so it’s excluded from investment recommendations
  • If it’s misclassified, edit the asset if possible or contact support
  • If the balance looks incorrect, re-sync the account or contact support@portfoliopilot.com

Tip: PortfolioPilot highlights idle cash because it can reduce long-term returns - but it’s fine to keep cash if it fits your strategy.
