A security in my portfolio shows the wrong ticker or isn't being recognized correctly. What do I do?

This can happen when a security has an uncommon ticker, is a proprietary fund, or isn't in our standard database. Here's how to fix it:

Option 1 - Add a proxy security: If the ticker isn't recognized but has a similar equivalent:

  • Go to the Details page
  • Find the unrecognized security and click the edit icon on the right
  • Check the "Use proxy security instead" box
  • Search for a similar ticker (e.g. use VOO as a proxy for a proprietary S&P 500 fund)
  • Click Save - the system will now use the proxy's data for analysis and recommendations

Option 2 - Add as a custom security: If there's no equivalent proxy:

  • Go to the Track page and click "Add an asset"
  • Click the Securities row → "Enter or copy/paste securities"
  • Type the name and choose "Custom security" from the dropdown
  • Enter the asset class, value, and expected return manually

Option 3 - Contact support

If you believe a ticker is incorrectly mapped in our system, let us know at support@portfoliopilot.com - we review and update our security database regularly.
