How do I set up Asset Groups for multiple retirement accounts (e.g. my IRA and my spouse's IRA)?
Asset Groups let you manage each retirement account independently, with its own risk profile, investment strategy, and recommendations. Here's how to set them up:
- Go to Track → Asset Groups → click "Set up Asset Group"
- Give it a clear name (e.g. "My IRA", "Susan's IRA", "Joint 401k")
- Select the accounts or securities that belong to that group
- Set the risk preference and any investment restrictions for that group
- Save - each group now has its own Portfolio Score, recommendations, and analysis
Useful tip for externally managed accounts: If you can't change the funds in a spouse's employer's 401(k) or another restricted account, mark that group as "Externally managed" when editing the account (Track → Net Worth → pencil icon → toggle "Externally managed"). The recommendation engine will exclude it from active suggestions while still including it in your overall net worth analysis.
