What is an Asset Group in PortfolioPilot?

An Asset Group is a way to organize a specific subset of your accounts or holdings into its own portfolio view - with its own risk profile, investment strategy, recommendations, and analysis - while still being part of your overall Net Worth.

Why use Asset Groups? Different parts of your portfolio often have different goals and time horizons. For example:

  • Your 401(k) may need a conservative approach since you can't touch it for years
  • Your brokerage account may have a more aggressive strategy for medium-term goals
  • Your spouse's IRA may have completely different risk preferences

Asset Groups let you manage each independently instead of applying one strategy across everything.

How to create an Asset Group:

  1. Go to Track → Assets Groups
  2. Click "Set up Asset Group" and select which accounts or securities to include
  3. Set the risk preferences, investment goals, and any restrictions for that group
  4. Save - your new group now has its own Portfolio Score, recommendations, and analysis

Each Asset Group will have its own Portfolio Score, recommendations, and analysis. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see our tutorial here.
