Tutorial: AI Assistant
Note: Specific investments described herein do not represent investment decisions made by PortfolioPilot. Specific securities or forecasts referenced or displayed in graphics are for illustrative purposes only. Though care is taken by PortfolioPilot to validate these systems, they carry risks, including misspecification, inaccurate information, and potential conflicts of interest that users should be aware of.
This feature is provided as a convenience. Because the AI Assistant combines large-language models with PortfolioPilot's internal APIs, financial models, and portfolio engine, it can retrieve live data, run calculations, trigger simulations, and interact directly with your portfolio. However, all outputs should still be validated elsewhere in the platform (where the same API calls are used), in referenced articles, or via third-party sources before making any investment decisions.

Access the AI Assistant
You can access the AI Assistant from anywhere inside PortfolioPilot. The interface works slightly differently on desktop and mobile devices.
Desktop
On the desktop, the Assistant button is located in the top navigation bar of PortfolioPilot.
Clicking the “Assistant” button opens the AI Assistant in a side panel on the right side of the screen, allowing you to interact with insights and run analyses without leaving your current page.

Mobile
On mobile devices, the Assistant can be accessed from the top navigation menu.
Tapping “Assistant” opens the AI Assistant in a full-screen chat interface, optimized for smaller screens. From here, you can ask questions, run simulations, and access portfolio insights just as you would on desktop.

Advanced Tool Capabilities
Unlike traditional chat interfaces, the AI Assistant can call internal tools and execute actions within PortfolioPilot. Examples include:
Create Custom Retirement Scenarios
- "Retire 3 years earlier and show my new probability of success."
- "Add a $200,000 inheritance at age 60."
- "Increase my retirement spending to $12,000 per month."

The Assistant can generate and modify retirement simulations directly within the Retirement Planning page.
Run Forward-Looking Custom Simulations
- "What happens to my portfolio if we enter a recession next year?"
- "Run a high-inflation scenario."

The Assistant can trigger custom futures simulations using PortfolioPilot's forecasting engine.
Use the Stock Screener
- "Find low-volatility dividend stocks with positive expected returns."
- "Show me undervalued energy stocks with strong momentum."

The Assistant can apply structured screening filters and return securities that match defined criteria.
Modify Draft Portfolios
- "Add VTI to my draft portfolio."
- "Remove GOOG and rebalance."

The Assistant can adjust draft portfolios and reflect changes immediately.
These capabilities allow you to move from asking questions to taking action - directly within the platform.
The Assistant applies these changes directly within PortfolioPilot and updates results in real time, so you can iterate quickly without manually adjusting settings.

- "How can I improve my risk-adjusted returns?"
